OPTIMIZE

In the OPTIMIZE project, two technologies are being developed for the healthcare sector to reduce medication use and automatically measure fluid balance in hospital patients. The goal is to improve the hospital experience for patients and shorten hospital stays.

Risk of complications can be reduced

Complications can arise during and after surgery, often due to side effects from medication or improper fluid balance.

Issues related to the body’s management of medication and fluid regulation can include fluctuations in blood pressure, breathing difficulties, urinary tract infections, falls, and delayed wound healing. These complications pose additional risks to the patient and can extend hospital stays.

Side effects from medication and over-/underhydration particularly affect elderly patients, a group that often suffers from multiple health conditions.

This project aims to reduce these risks through the introduction of new technology.
