Flere godkendelser af VR-brillen og nye tests på Urologisk Afdeling

The Virtual Reality headset has received ethical approval without remarks, followed by Clinical Trial approval. With these two crucial approvals in place, the project is ready to move to the next phase, which will take place in the Department of Urology.

After being organisationally placed under the Department of Anaesthesiology with a study investigating whether Virtual Reality can preoperatively reduce anxiety, increase readiness, and improve expectations among knee patients, the project is now also underway in the Department of Urology. Here, VR is being examined for its use in treating kidney patients, focusing on reducing pain and anxiety during lithotripsy procedures.

PhD student Karsten Lassen is pleased to begin testing the now-approved VR headset and to investigate whether Virtual Reality can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety and pain during ESWL treatment among kidney stone patients.
