Medieomtale: Virtuelle oplevelser skal berolige patienter under operationer i fremtiden
OPTIMIZE har sammen med fire andre forsknings- og innovationsprojekter med Sjællands Universitetshospital som lead partner modtaget tilsammen over 90 millioner kroner i støtte fra EU i december 2022. Det har skabt omtale i flere medier ved projektets begyndelse – blandt andet i en artikel hos det sjællandske medie TV2 Øst.
“It’s quite intense when you’re cutting into someone’s knee. It sounds like a sawmill, and there can also be blood splatter. That’s why patients are often given sedatives, but this means they take longer to recover after surgery.”
This is how research leader Anja Geisler explained one of the challenges the OPTIMIZE project is addressing to *TV2 Øst*.
The regional media outlet describes Zealand University Hospital’s work with Virtual Reality for awake surgeries in a news article related to the project and four other research and innovation projects led by Zealand University Hospital, which received funding through Interreg programmes in December 2022.

This is the largest amount of funding ever awarded in a single application round from the European Regional Development Fund to healthcare innovation projects led by researchers in Region Zealand.
